Sojourner (n.)- a person who resides temporarily in a place.Yep, that’s me! My job has kept me on the move through the years. For more than a decade my husband and I were based in Asia, but these days my haven and jumping-off point is in the state of Indiana, USA. I’m a Jesus-follower, which would make me a sojourner anyway, right? After all, Peter calls us “sojourners and exiles.”My other monikers include wife, mom, grandmother (“Grammie” if you please!), writer, lover of beauty, bird-watcher, and teacher. Thanks for joining me on my journey!
“…You are dearly loved! I urge you from within this place of our joint oneness to remain like sojourners and strangers to the subtleties of a world-system that is foreign to your design. Avoid any influence that does not resonate with your innocence.”
— I Peter 2:11 (MIRROR TRANSLATION)

Celesorrow
JANUARY 27, 2024
Joy and sorrow. Both. At the same time. It’s part of life, isn’t it? Yet it’s often really tough to carry them together. It’s as if they each demand our full attention, and we feel we have to ignore one so we don’t dishonor the other. Or perhaps we just linger in whichever one is louder at the moment.

an excerpt from Parables of the eucalyptus
Jesus still speaks to us in parables that unfold when we look at His marvelous creation. The characteristics of what He has designed can speak volumes about who He is and who we are in His world. The eucalyptus is one of those fascinating creations with lots of parables to tell us. Within its characteristics are stories about the attributes of our Heavenly Papa, as well as qualities that He is working into your life and mine.Despite the fact that eucalyptus have a fairly narrow home range, they have been cultivated on every continent except Antarctica. Here is our first parable: the eucalyptus can be compared to God's kingdom, which started with just one nation--Israel--and now has spread to people, nations, tribes and tongues all over the world!
